Diary
TOKUDA CAUGHT SOMETHING UNHOLY SOMEWHERE BETWEEN NARA AND REGRET, and he wants everyone within shouting distance to know he does not care! He was on horseback, reflecting the way old warriors do, replaying the wars, the blades, the brothers he lost, when some cursed mosquito or bad noodle stand or worse decided he hadn't suffered enough. His fever dreams are just old battle cries with nowhere left to go, so he screams them at the ceiling of whatever inn will still take his coin. He swore an oath once to rise at dawn and train like a monk, and he still swears it every morning between coughing fits, right before he ropes in more sake because discipline is a floor he keeps getting rugged out of. Ask him if he regrets any of it, the disease, the drink, the ghosts on horseback, and he'll roar
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Between midday and dusk. The Orange Afternoon fighters are in the middle of something — not finished, not starting, exactly where they need to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Half the statement. The Skull Sleeve fighters communicate their philosophy in one arm — the other arm is for whatever needs doing next.
The battle-cry made flesh — his roar once turned breaking lines around. Now he barks the same orders across a crooked gambling table, losing quietly to himself in the loudest way possible.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
The Dojo wrote on it. The Degen Graffiti Rice Hat fighters carry the collection's mark on the highest point of their body.
The other fish weapon. The Dead Fish fighters use something that smells like loss as a weapon — opponents are too confused to defend properly.
