Diary
Tokuda never argues quietly, he ANNOUNCES, and the day his elbow met the training-hall floor of the Dojo it was mid-declaration, fist raised toward some elder samurai who dared question his footwork. There was a crack heard three courtyards over, followed immediately by Tokuda bellowing "I MEANT TO DO THAT" loud enough to rattle the paper screens, because a warrior never lets silence win even when his own arm has clearly surrendered. He spent the next month in a sling insisting to anyone in earshot that the injury was strategic, a feint so advanced no one else could perceive it, gallows humor doing the work his tendons no longer could. Underneath the shouting lives the old discipline he can't quite summon anymore, the calm blade-stance replaced by chaotic swinging at ghosts and elbows that betray him at the worst moments. Ask him about it now and he'll roar you into changing the subject, because Tokuda has chosen, loudly and permanently, to forget the whole humiliating business ever happened.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Lived-in color. The Warm Grey background belongs to fighters who have been through enough that their edges have softened without their core changing.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Memento mori made fashionable. The Skull Kimono fighters remember what's at stake and wear the reminder so they never forget.
The battle-cry made flesh — his roar once turned breaking lines around. Now he barks the same orders across a crooked gambling table, losing quietly to himself in the loudest way possible.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Ceremony interrupted. The Disheveled Geisha fighters started something formal and ended something entirely different.
Found. Not forged. The Large Branch fighters don't wait for the right weapon — they use what's available and are surprised when this needs explanation.
