Tokuda swears the whole thing started with a haiku, some half-formed line about cherry blossoms he was arranging in his skull while crouched in the dojo latrines, and it ended with a man dead on the floorboards and Tokuda screaming a war cry meant for a battlefield that closed shop decades ago. There was no plan, no floor to rug, just a thought interrupted and a body that happened to be in the way, and Tokuda has never once apologized because a true warrior does not apologize mid combo. Since that day he has been called a lunatic, and he wears it the way other men wear rank, bellowing his own name in empty alleys just to remind the universe he is still aped into this life. He tried meditation once, sat cross legged for four whole minutes before hollering at a pigeon he mistook for an assassin, proof that discipline and Tokuda parted ways somewhere between the sake and the second war. Nowadays he channels the old battle cry into bar fights and bad bets, chest out, voice cracking the rafters, forever charging at enemies that stopped existing long before the smoke cleared.
