Diary
TOKUDA WAS A GREAT MAN, or so the scrolls would have said if anyone still bothered to write scrolls, before the hot afternoons and the widows and the particular sin of enjoying both too much. He announces this fact to strangers at full battle volume, fist raised like he's about to charge a shogun's line instead of a vending machine that ate his last coin. Retirement, he bellows, is just discipline with the shame filed off, and he wears that lie like samurai armor two sizes too small. Every dawn he vows to meditate, to fast, to stop chasing whatever chased him into ruin, and by noon he's face down in a mahjong parlor shouting old war cries at a losing hand. He refuses to go quiet about any of it, not the widows, not the weed, not the glorious collapse, because a warrior who whispers his failures might as well have never swung a blade at all.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Excess made armor. The Glutton Fight fighters wear their hunger on the outside — not for food, but for everything the Dojo offers.
The battle-cry made flesh — his roar once turned breaking lines around. Now he barks the same orders across a crooked gambling table, losing quietly to himself in the loudest way possible.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Practical. Focused. The Hair Bun fighters pulled back what was in their eyes so they could see the whole board.
A live chicken. As a weapon. The Chicken fighters have committed to an approach that nobody expected and found that unexpectedness is half the battle.
