TOKUDA CLEARS HIS MIND IN THE GARDEN AT DAWN LIKE THE OLD MASTERS TAUGHT, ROBE OPEN TO THE WIND, HEART OPEN TO THE VOID, AND BY THE THIRD HOUR HIS NIPPLES ARE RAW AND WEEPING LIKE HE LOST A KNIFE FIGHT WITH HIS OWN GI. HE HOWLS AT THE KOI POND, NOT FROM ENLIGHTENMENT, BUT BECAUSE FABRIC IS THE CRUELEST SENSEI OF ALL. Somewhere beneath the shouting he remembers being a monk of motion, a man who could sit still and mean it, before the sake and the shitcoins turned stillness into something he only visits between benders. He knows better now, he screams it to the herons, he has SAID he knows better plenty of times, and yet tomorrow he will be back out there shirtless and chafing, mistaking pain for discipline because at least pain still shows up when he calls. The garden does not applaud him. Tokuda applauds himself anyway, loud enough for both of them, blood and all.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.
