Tokuda climbed Misty Mountain looking for silence and found Bob instead, some fog-wrapped stranger with a joint and a philosophy, and by the time the conversation ended Tokuda was bellowing at the clouds like he'd just won a war nobody fought. HE FEELS GREAT, he announced to no one, fist raised, katana rusting quietly in its sheath back at camp where discipline goes to die. Bob had said something about breathing, about letting go, about floors and bottoms and how the market always comes back, and Tokuda translated all of it into pure war-drum nonsense because that is the only language his chest still speaks. He came down that mountain louder than he went up it, confidence swollen like a bad bet, swearing this time he'd meditate every morning, only to skip day one because the wind sounded like an insult he had to answer. Tokuda knows better now, he really does, he just hasn't figured out how to be quiet long enough to use it.”
