Diary
At sunrise Tokuda stood on the temple steps and did what no ronin with a scrap of discipline should ever do, he spread gossip so juicy it curdled the morning fog, and somewhere between the first rumor and the third exaggeration his faith simply packed its bags and left without a note. He does not mourn it. He BRAGS about it, hollering the tale to anyone within earshot like it was a battle he won instead of a temple he burned down with his mouth, chest puffed out, fist in the air, gallows laughter rattling out of him like a war drum with nowhere left to march. Every morning since he tries, genuinely tries, to sit still and rebuild some sliver of the old discipline, incense lit, spine straight, and every morning he lasts about four breaths before some fresh piece of dojo drama comes crawling across his tongue and he is back to shouting it from the rooftops like a general announcing victory. He tells himself the pride is armor, that a samurai who lost his gods can still keep his volume, and honestly at this point the volume is the only prayer he has left. Ask him if he regrets it and he will just grin wider and yell louder, because Tokuda never learned how to go quiet, not even for something as small as his own soul.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Turns toward light. The Silken Sunflower Kimono fighters move toward what sustains them without apology or explanation.
The battle-cry made flesh — his roar once turned breaking lines around. Now he barks the same orders across a crooked gambling table, losing quietly to himself in the loudest way possible.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Nothing hidden. No armor above the neck. The Bald fighters face everything without cover and consider this the only honest approach.
Used and not cleaned. The Bloody Nunchucks fighters are efficient — cleaning was someone else's job and they had the next fight to prepare for.
