Diary
TOKUDA ANNOUNCED HIS CHALLENGE THE WAY HE ANNOUNCED EVERYTHING, at full volume, mid sake, sword drawn like the wars never ended, and the Darkness Festival crowd roared back because that is what you do when a man screams like the last honest thing left on earth. He meant to face the dojo master with the discipline of old, feet set, breath low, some scrap of the bushido he'd rugged years ago for cheap plum wine and worse decisions, but the mob swallowed his stance whole and a stranger's hand found territory no opponent had ever claimed in combat. Tokuda did not flinch, did not apologize, did not even lower his blade, he just threw his head back and BELLOWED with laughter loud enough to rattle the paper lanterns, because after a decade of losing every quiet battle for self control, this felt like the first fair fight he'd won in ages. The dojo master, half amused half horrified, asked if he wanted to continue the duel, and Tokuda screamed yes with tears in his eyes, somehow more alive being groped in a festival brawl than he'd felt drilling forms at dawn like a proper samurai ever was. He walked away undefeated in spirit, ruined in dignity, and grinning like a man who finally found a floor he could not fall through.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Bright but not loud. The Teal Daytime fighters are the ones you underestimate because they don't announce their arrival.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Organization ink made visible. The Black Yakuza Sleeves fighters belong to something — a code, a history — and they advertise their membership without speaking.
The battle-cry made flesh — his roar once turned breaking lines around. Now he barks the same orders across a crooked gambling table, losing quietly to himself in the loudest way possible.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Fermented projectile. The Beer Splash fighters found the most abundant thing in the Dojo and weaponized it.
