At the Edo palace, beneath lanterns that once lit disciplined swordwork now dimmed by sake fumes and the low hum of degen chatter, he made the mistake of eyeballing Goro one heartbeat too long, and Goro's answer arrived not like a sunrise but like a verdict, quick and merciless, scattering teeth across polished floorboards like discarded chart candles. He told himself the gaps in his grin were just proof his poison needed no fangs anymore, only patience, the kind samurai once trained for and he now fumbles with, journaling 'discipline starts tomorrow' in a notebook he uses more often to roll something green. Exiled by his own shame and a swelling jaw, he retreated into the hills to live as a hermit, whispering curses that take three days to land, much like his rent payments. Every dawn he vows to meditate at sunrise, and every dawn he wakes at noon reeking of stale weed and old grudges, the reaction always outlasting his resolve.
Not contacts. Not paint. Something older. The Shaman Eyes fighters see through the collection at a frequency others can't access, and they've been doing it since before the derug.
Neither dark nor white. The Light Grey background belongs to fighters who operate in the space between certainties and have made it comfortable there.
