Diary
Before the markets, Azuma carried himself like a rising thing, the kind of samurai whose approach made lesser men check their swords, but the birds did not care about legacy and neither does the story he tells now. They came in a wheeling mob over the fish stalls, a hundred beaks and no mercy, and what they left behind was not a corpse but a man who flinches at pigeons and drinks to forget feathers. He tried, briefly, to rebuild the discipline, dawn meditation, cold water, the whole ruined-monk starter pack, but by day three he'd traded the sunrise for a bong and a grudge. Now he calls himself the reaction rather than the rising sun, corrosive, slow, inevitable, less a warrior than a poison working through the room long after the fight's forgotten. Ask him about the markets and he'll just exhale smoke and say some floors you don't recover from, some rugs come with wings.
Collected. Not borrowed. The Foes Teeth fighters carry proof of every fight they've won around their neck and find it a useful conversation starter.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Not quite there yet. The Warlock Wannabe fighters are in the process of becoming something more — and the gap between aspiration and arrival is where they live.
Another east, but where Drooling Azuma's is the honest sunrise, Toxic's is where the reaction happens — the direction things curdle. Same name, entirely different chemistry.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
On fire, stable. The Burning Basket fighters operate in conditions most find impossible and have stopped noticing the fire.
The ninja's tool. Small, fast, plural. The Kunai fighters think in multiples — one is never the plan.
