Diary
Yuuki once trained to be shogun the old way, with discipline sharp as a blade's edge, but the wars ended and the only throne left standing was in a backstreet full of degenerates arm-wrestling over scraps of pride. He fought for that title anyway, because a man who has carried a sword does not simply stop carrying purpose, even when the purpose is deciding who gets to be king of an alley. Somewhere between the second round and the fourth bad decision, he found not rivals but friends, a ragged court of drunkards and gamblers who cheered for him like he was still someone worth cheering for. He vowed that night, quietly and with total sincerity, to become a better man, to rise above the vice and reclaim the discipline he'd lost, and he has been losing that particular fight with great dignity ever since. Still, when the dice are cast or the bottle is passed, Yuuki stands a little straighter, like a shogun presiding over the smallest, most hopeless kingdom in the world, and somehow that counts for something.
Theology made weapon-adjacent. The Golden Jesuit Crosses fighters have a philosophy and the crosses are its badge — precise, absolute, delivered with complete conviction.
Paper screens at night. The Shoji Night fighters were born in the quiet hours, when the market sleeps and only the committed are still at their screens.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The Dojo itself, worn. Whoever puts on the Degen Dojo Kimono becomes part of the institution — and the institution becomes part of them.
'Yuuki' means courage, earned the plain way: by stepping forward on the mornings every sane part of him voted to step back. Bravery, for him, was a decision made fresh each day.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Institutional. The Degen Dojo Headband fighters wear the collection on their head — they are the collection and the collection is them.
Used and not cleaned. The Bloody Nunchucks fighters are efficient — cleaning was someone else's job and they had the next fight to prepare for.
