Diary
Yuuki once charged war banners with the same calm he now brings to terrible decisions, and the day he mouthed off at a lone samurai beneath the cedar grove was, in his own telling, a masterclass in courage. The insult was minor, something about the man's stance looking like a folding chair mid-collapse, but the swing that followed was not, and Yuuki's finger met a tree root with a crack that echoed louder than his pride. He sat there cradling his hand, grinning through the pain like a man who'd won a bar bet rather than lost a duel, already narrating the tale as legend in his head. Now he's declared himself ready to teach self defence to the district's degens, insisting a broken finger is basically a diploma if you squint, though every lesson devolves into him demonstrating stances he can no longer hold without wincing. Somewhere in the wreckage of his old bushido he still believes discipline is just around the corner, waiting patiently while he tries, and fails, to stop picking fights he can't finish.”
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
The hour when most give up. The Blue Evening fighters are still at their desk, still watching the chart, still holding.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Kept from the harvest. The Dried Straw fighters dress in what's left after everything useful has been taken — and have discovered this is plenty.
'Yuuki' means courage, earned the plain way: by stepping forward on the mornings every sane part of him voted to step back. Bravery, for him, was a decision made fresh each day.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Ancient discipline, modern retention. The Braided Samurai Ponytail fighters maintain something traditional precisely because the world keeps trying to make them let it go.
