Once Yuuki's courage was reserved for shield walls and last stands, the kind of nerve that held a line when lesser men broke. Now that same steady nerve gets spent haggling over a baggie of mushrooms in a stand of trees, negotiating like the fate of a province hangs on the price per gram. He aped the whole stash without blinking, because a warrior does not flinch at a deal, then sat cross-legged beneath the canopy demolishing a bucket of chicken like it was the last supper before a siege. Some part of him still whispers that discipline means rice and quiet meditation at dawn, but that part loses, every single time, to grease on his fingers and mushrooms in his pocket. He tells himself this is training too, staying loose, staying ready, a true degen holding the line for absolutely nothing worth defending.”
