Diary
Yuuki once stood in silent lines at dawn, katana steady, breath disciplined as temple bells, but the wars ended and the discipline drifted off like incense smoke, leaving only the courage behind with nowhere honorable to point it. That courage, repurposed for nonsense, marched him straight to Kiyomizu-Dera one reckless afternoon, three cups of sake and a little too much confidence deep, where he did the deed that would outlive every battle he'd ever fought. Tourists screamed, monks prayed harder, and somehow a legend was born on that wooden platform overlooking Kyoto, the kind of legend nobody wants but everybody remembers. Now he tries, every single day, to reclaim some scrap of the old bushido, meditating at dawn, vowing sobriety, swearing off the pipe, and every single day he ends up aped into another bag of weed and a losing staring contest with his own shame. Still he shows up to fight, steady-eyed and wry, because a man who survived that kind of infamy can survive getting rugged in the ring too, probably, maybe, we'll see.
Simple. Carved. Someone made this by hand. The Wooden Loop fighters wear something made, not bought, and consider that a statement worth making.
Between midday and dusk. The Orange Afternoon fighters are in the middle of something — not finished, not starting, exactly where they need to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The red Oni rages where the blue Oni waits. The Red Oni Tattoo fighters run hot and they are at peace with this.
'Yuuki' means courage, earned the plain way: by stepping forward on the mornings every sane part of him voted to step back. Bravery, for him, was a decision made fresh each day.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Named for what grew. The Wise Greatness fighters became something across time that couldn't be rushed and didn't try to be.
Direct. No ambiguity. The Axe fighters made a decision about what kind of fighter they are and the axe confirms it every time.
