Diary
Yuuki had once stood the night watch outside Himeji with a spear steady in frost, and now he stood the same way over a half-eaten plate of fish cakes on his friend's futon, chin high, resolve blazing like it mattered. He ate them slowly, ceremonially, as though each bite were a koan, and by the third one he felt it: the old readiness returning to his spine, the sense that he could face anything, even the group chat. He did not need this confidence for anything noble, only to argue about a coin's floor price with the seriousness of a man defending a castle gate, but he gave it his full samurai heart anyway. Some nights he thinks back fondly on simpler days, mucking out stalls before dawn, shovel in hand, purpose in his shoulders, poop no metaphor at all just poop, and he misses how honest that labor was compared to whatever he is doing now. He tries, always, to bring back that discipline, setting a strict schedule for it, and always, always, the fish cakes and the futon win first.
Simple. Carved. Someone made this by hand. The Wooden Loop fighters wear something made, not bought, and consider that a statement worth making.
Neither dark nor white. The Light Grey background belongs to fighters who operate in the space between certainties and have made it comfortable there.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Not a garment — a record. The Battle Scars clothing is what's left after everything else was stripped away. These fighters wear their history.
'Yuuki' means courage, earned the plain way: by stepping forward on the mornings every sane part of him voted to step back. Bravery, for him, was a decision made fresh each day.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
On fire, stable. The Burning Basket fighters operate in conditions most find impossible and have stopped noticing the fire.
Used and not cleaned. The Bloody Nunchucks fighters are efficient — cleaning was someone else's job and they had the next fight to prepare for.
