Diary
Assassin Fuzen had a contract on his life once, the old discipline, the code of finishing what you start, and somewhere on the slopes of Mount Fuji he defaulted on it. He'd talked too much sake-mouth trash to a passing samurai, the kind of insult that used to earn a clean duel and a cleaner death, but instead he just got too drunk to stand and the samurai walked off laughing, contract unfulfilled, honor unclaimed. Now he loiters at the mountain's base like unfinished business, sharpening a blade he no longer trusts his hands to hold steady, telling anyone who'll listen that he's rebuilding his discipline one dry morning at a time. The dry mornings keep rugging him for happy hour. Somewhere up there the insult is still owed payment, and Fuzen, patient as a debt collector with no address to send the bill, figures he'll get around to closing it eventually.”
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
The hour when most give up. The Blue Evening fighters are still at their desk, still watching the chart, still holding.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The red Oni rages where the blue Oni waits. The Red Oni Tattoo fighters run hot and they are at peace with this.
'Fuzen' means incompleteness, a joke at his own expense before it was a name. The blade sent for the jobs that had to be certain — left with one last name on his list when the wars ended.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Institutional. The Degen Dojo Headband fighters wear the collection on their head — they are the collection and the collection is them.
Implies infirmity, delivers otherwise. The Wooden Walking Cane fighters move slower than expected and hit harder than prepared for.
