Diary
In the tall grass of Okiyo, Assassin Fuzen once sat so still that the wind forgot he was there, a discipline he'd learned when his blade was still a promise and not a punchline. These days the stillness is mostly the weed talking, and the grass he stares at is less meditation than a very long, very expensive nap with his eyes open. Somewhere in that haze he lost a few teeth, the story shifting each time he tells it, a bar fight, a bad edible, a debt collector who did not appreciate being kept waiting like everyone else on Fuzen's endless list. He keeps a ledger of unfinished business now instead of enemies, and both the vengeance and the flossing routine sit permanently in the 'pending' column. Ask him when he'll finally close it out and he'll just smile that gapped, patient smile, the one that says the contract isn't overdue, it's simply aging like everything else he never got around to.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Paper screens at night. The Shoji Night fighters were born in the quiet hours, when the market sleeps and only the committed are still at their screens.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Left the order. Didn't stop fighting. The Dejen Apostate fighters broke from whatever school trained them and found that the training stayed anyway.
'Fuzen' means incompleteness, a joke at his own expense before it was a name. The blade sent for the jobs that had to be certain — left with one last name on his list when the wars ended.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
The farmer's crown. The Rice Hat fighters carry tradition on their head without ceremony — it's just what you wear when you have work to do.
The other fish weapon. The Dead Fish fighters use something that smells like loss as a weapon — opponents are too confused to defend properly.
