Before the empire went quiet, Fuzen ran the kind of Yakuza outfit that never needed to raise its voice, a ledger of debts collected in silence and blades sheathed only when the math was settled. Then came the dream of Mount Koriyoka, glory dressed up as prophecy, and he walked away from the family business the way a man walks away from a contract he intends to finish later, slow, unbothered, certain the world would wait. It didn't quite work out that way; the mountain gave him no glory, only altitude and a strange hunger for stillness, so now he tells himself he's chasing a quieter life while he aped his last three retainers' savings into a token called after a soup dumpling and watched the floor fall out from under all of them without so much as blinking. He still meditates every morning for exactly four minutes before reaching for the vape pen and calling it discipline, a ritual as unfinished as the vendetta he swears he's retired from. Ask him if he's dangerous now and he'll go quiet in that particular way of his, the kind of quiet that used to mean someone wasn't getting up, and you'll realize the contract never actually closed, it just started collecting new interest.
