Assassin Fuzen never signs anything in full; he prefers the space beneath the last line, where a debt can breathe forever. Around the Dojo they still whisper about the night he flirted with death itself over the shogun's seat, trading blows and half-smiles like a man haggling for a floor price he already knows he'll ape into. He walked away unclaimed, grinning that patient grin, as if death had merely left an invoice he intends to never pay. Once he was the sort of blade that finished what it started, precise as a signed contract, but these days he lingers in unfinished business the way old samurai linger in temples they no longer believe in. He tells himself tomorrow he'll retire the game, sharpen discipline instead of debts, and every dawn that promise gets rugged all over again, and somehow he still looks pleased about it.
Without the gold. The Jesuit Crosses fighters have the same conviction but carry it lighter — the weight is in the belief, not the metal.
Lived-in color. The Warm Grey background belongs to fighters who have been through enough that their edges have softened without their core changing.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Memento mori made fashionable. The Skull Kimono fighters remember what's at stake and wear the reminder so they never forget.
'Fuzen' means incompleteness, a joke at his own expense before it was a name. The blade sent for the jobs that had to be certain — left with one last name on his list when the wars ended.
The world through affection. The Loveheart Shades fighters see everything as worth caring about — and have found this is more effective than the alternative.
The Dojo's version of a mohawk. More specific, more named. The Dejen Mohawk fighters chose the Dojo's interpretation of rebellion over the generic one.
Found. Not forged. The Large Branch fighters don't wait for the right weapon — they use what's available and are surprised when this needs explanation.
