Assassin Fuzen once counted his breaths before a kill the way monks count prayers, patient as frost, precise as a signature on a contract no one dared void. That discipline curdled slowly into something looser, muddier, until one blistering afternoon found him cross-legged in the shade with a fistful of mushrooms and a mind unspooling into shapes that used to be enemies and were now just colors. He does not remember the fall, only the sound, a small dry snap that felt like the universe closing a door he thought he'd locked from the inside, and when he looked down his finger pointed somewhere it had no business pointing. He wrapped it himself, wordless, the way he used to wrap wounds before battle, and decided between waves of nausea that the real failure wasn't the bone, it was letting the mushrooms hold the blade he should've been holding. Now he speaks of teaching the younger degens restraint, discipline, the sacred pause before the trip, and everyone nods politely while watching him ice a crooked finger with the same quiet menace he once reserved for men who thought they'd outrun him.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.

'Fuzen' means incompleteness, a joke at his own expense before it was a name. The blade sent for the jobs that had to be certain — left with one last name on his list when the wars ended.
