Diary
Fuzen once carried a blade like a signature, quiet and final, but the night he fought to be shogun at the Hidden Teahouse the ink never dried and neither did he, sliding instead into sake cups and side bets that outlasted every promise he made himself. He tells people the title is still pending, an open contract with no expiration, the same way he tells himself tomorrow is the day he finally opens his own dojo instead of just staring at the deed he keeps folded in his sleeve like a debt. Every dawn he wakes with the old discipline knocking politely at the door of his skull, and every dawn he answers it with a bowl of weed and a promise to start training students by noon, a noon that has not arrived in months. There is menace still in the way he sits so still at the teahouse tables, patient as a blade left sheathed too long, watching the room the way he once watched targets, except now the only thing he is stalking is his own unfinished ambition. He will build that dojo eventually, he assures anyone who asks, the way an assassin assures a mark there is nothing to worry about, right before the job stretches into another decade.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
The hour when most give up. The Blue Evening fighters are still at their desk, still watching the chart, still holding.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Memento mori made fashionable. The Skull Kimono fighters remember what's at stake and wear the reminder so they never forget.
'Fuzen' means incompleteness, a joke at his own expense before it was a name. The blade sent for the jobs that had to be certain — left with one last name on his list when the wars ended.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Ancient discipline, modern retention. The Braided Samurai Ponytail fighters maintain something traditional precisely because the world keeps trying to make them let it go.
Made for documentation, used for combat. The Paintbrush fighters record and act simultaneously — every fight is also a portrait.
