They still whisper the name Assassin Fuzen in the Meiji Jungle the way you whisper a contract clause you hope never gets enforced, because the man aped his whole bloodline for a payout and never once looked back to check the floor price of his own conscience. Legend says the betrayal was clean, katana quiet, family sold out before the tea even cooled, and Fuzen walked out of that jungle a made man with nothing left to owe anyone, which is its own kind of curse when you think about it too long, and he does, every night. Now the old killer wants healthier pleasures, matcha instead of blood money, a green smoothie where the green used to mean something else entirely, a little weed to soften the edges of a life built on unfinished business. He meditates for four minutes, gets bored, checks if anyone's put a bounty on him lately out of habit more than hope, then goes back to staring at the horizon like it's a debt collector he's still dodging. Discipline, for Fuzen, is a contract he keeps meaning to sign, and every sunrise he tells himself today's the day he closes it, and every sunset the ink's still wet and the terms have somehow gotten worse.
