Diary
Fuzen took contracts the way other men took vows, and once he was the kind of blade nobody wanted to see twice, ambition sharpened to a single point. Then the red light district got its hooks in him, specifically the beetle pits behind the noodle stalls where fortunes rise and fall on the twitch of an insect's mandibles, and somewhere between the sake and the losing streaks his edge got pawned off piece by piece. He still shows up every dawn swearing he'll meditate, restring his bow, finish the job he left half done three towns over, and every dawn he ends up crouched in the dirt again, yen on a beetle named something stupid like Big Kenji. The humility came free with the losses, he'll tell you, deadpan, like it's the only contract that ever actually delivered. Ambition hasn't left him entirely, it just waits now in the dark with the patience of a man who knows the beetle will lose, and he'll bet on it anyway, because closing this account was never really the point.
Decorative. Traditional. The Tassel fighters know that ornament and function are not opposites — presentation is part of performance.
Neither dark nor white. The Light Grey background belongs to fighters who operate in the space between certainties and have made it comfortable there.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Organization ink made visible. The Black Yakuza Sleeves fighters belong to something — a code, a history — and they advertise their membership without speaking.
'Fuzen' means incompleteness, a joke at his own expense before it was a name. The blade sent for the jobs that had to be certain — left with one last name on his list when the wars ended.
Long range. The Telescopic Glasses fighters are already looking at what comes next while everyone else is still processing now.
After. The Messy fighters' hair tells you what happened — not what they planned, but what they went through.
A live chicken. As a weapon. The Chicken fighters have committed to an approach that nobody expected and found that unexpectedness is half the battle.
