Up on the Dojo roof, blade still slick from ronin who'd made the mistake of interrupting his sunset, Haru felt his heart crack clean in half, and true to form he grinned so wide the wound almost didn't show. He kept swinging anyway, laughing between kills like the whole rooftop was one big bit, because a samurai who admits he's bleeding is just a sad man with a sword. Now he tells everyone he's writing a book about it, working title something like 'How To Ape Into Love And Get Rugged By A Ronin's Cousin,' though so far the manuscript is three chapter titles and a stain shaped like regret. He insists the discipline is coming back any day now, same way he insists the weed is 'purely for creative process,' and both claims survive about as long as his outlines do. Every night he sits down to write with iron intent and wakes up having written nothing, grin still on, heart still cracked, already pitching the sequel.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
