Diary
Under a moon so full it looked like it had aped into the sky at an all-time high, Haru sat down to a mountain of chicken with the serene confidence of a man who definitely had this under control. Three drumsticks in, someone joked his old dojo diet was rugged the moment he discovered fryer oil, and Haru's grin cracked just enough to let a real growl slip out before he caught himself and slapped the smile back on like a bandage over a wound. He laughed it off loud, too loud, the way he always does, insisting he was fine, totally fine, definitely not spiraling, while grease dripped down his wrist like some cursed omen from a simpler era. Because lately he misses that simpler era hard, back when his biggest daily challenge was scooping poop in the stable yard at dawn, disciplined, quiet, blissfully free of nights like this one where hunger and shame do kickboxing in his chest. Still, he wiped his hands, forced the grin wider, and told everyone nearby that tomorrow he'd detox, meditate, maybe even floor-clean the whole yard again for old times' sake, knowing full well the chicken bucket already had a rematch scheduled for breakfast.
A paper earring from the Dojo itself. Fragile. Replaceable. The fighters who wear them understand that what looks disposable can last forever.
Paper screens at night. The Shoji Night fighters were born in the quiet hours, when the market sleeps and only the committed are still at their screens.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Not a garment — a record. The Battle Scars clothing is what's left after everything else was stripped away. These fighters wear their history.
The man who decided grinning was braver than breaking. He held a line so long his smile became the squad's good-luck charm; now he beams through the wreckage of peacetime, a very tired samurai behind the widest smile in the Dojo.
The Dojo itself, rendered on glass. The Dojo Graffiti fighters see everything through the collection's own aesthetic — they can't separate themselves from it.
Architecture on the scalp. Each knot a decision. The Black Bantu Knots fighters make their choices visible at the top, where everyone can see.
A live chicken. As a weapon. The Chicken fighters have committed to an approach that nobody expected and found that unexpectedness is half the battle.
