Diary
Haru still tells it like a punchline: how he wandered into the trees behind the old dojo, floor-searching for calm after another gambling bender, and found Fred's snake instead of serenity. The fangs found his ankle before his brain found the word for panic, and somewhere in that white flash his last real dream, the one where he's disciplined again, got rugged for good. He laughs about it now, big and loud, tells the other fighters it was basically a free tattoo and a good bit for the highlight reel, grin stretched so wide you'd never guess he still flinches at rustling leaves. Underneath the jokes there's a samurai who once meditated at dawn without needing three bong rips first, and some nights that old ghost sits heavy in his chest while the cheer works overtime to hold the door shut. He keeps trying to swear off the vices, to get back some semblance of bushido, and keeps failing spectacularly by sunrise, but hey, at least he's smiling when the floor drops out from under him.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Unclear until it clears. The Grey Mist backgrounds belong to fighters who operate where others can't see, and use that fog as their advantage.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The man who decided grinning was braver than breaking. He held a line so long his smile became the squad's good-luck charm; now he beams through the wreckage of peacetime, a very tired samurai behind the widest smile in the Dojo.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Found. Not forged. The Large Branch fighters don't wait for the right weapon — they use what's available and are surprised when this needs explanation.
