Diary
At the onsen Haru introduced himself to strangers as a mythic ronin who'd once parried a hundred blades before lunch, grinning so wide the steam practically bowed to him. Underneath the rented bravado the real Haru, a laundry-thin samurai who'd swapped his discipline for degen chaos long ago, quietly dissolved into the water like a rugged floor price. Each lie he spun peeled another strip off his own self-esteem and sent it drifting away with the sulfur bubbles, though he refused to let his face know it. When he finally climbed out pink, pruney, and somehow prouder than ever, he declared it the best soak of his life, reasoning that losing yourself is really just diversifying your personality bags. He promised, as always, to sit still and find his old center again tomorrow, right after one more edible and a quick check of the charts.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Neither dark nor white. The Light Grey background belongs to fighters who operate in the space between certainties and have made it comfortable there.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Named for something specific. The Cet Kimono fighters know what they're wearing and why — the rest is for others to figure out.
The man who decided grinning was braver than breaking. He held a line so long his smile became the squad's good-luck charm; now he beams through the wreckage of peacetime, a very tired samurai behind the widest smile in the Dojo.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Movement made permanent. The Long Flowing fighters trail behind themselves in every room they enter — the hair arrives first, then the fighter.
Implies infirmity, delivers otherwise. The Wooden Walking Cane fighters move slower than expected and hit harder than prepared for.
