Diary
Masumi remembers the exact bowl of shoyu ramen that ended his sanity, the steam curling up right before his palm found Raiku the Stoner's face at the noodle house on a Tuesday that deserved better. It was not rage, he insists, merely clarity, the same clarity that tells him the floor is always about to drop and the exit liquidity is always someone else. Afterward he shaved his head, folded his robes with the precision of a man who once cleaned a katana nightly, and dedicated himself to Buddhism, chasing the discipline the wars took and the noodle house finished off. He meditates every dawn on impermanence, on non-attachment, on the fact that Raiku still owes him for a bowl of noodles he never got to finish, and by noon he has aped into another shitcoin because enlightenment is expensive and hope, bleakly, springs eternal. He tells himself each candle he lights is progress, though the incense smoke smells suspiciously like the weed Raiku was rolling when it all went sideways, and Masumi, seeing the worst because it is usually true, lights another anyway.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Hidden in plain sight. The Night Forest fighters do most of their work in the dark — not secretively, but quietly. They don't need an audience.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Half the statement. The Skull Sleeve fighters communicate their philosophy in one arm — the other arm is for whatever needs doing next.
'Masumi' means true clarity — and that's exactly his problem. He sees what's actually there, not the comfortable version, which made him priceless in war and unbearable at a party.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Dark nature made structural. The Black Oni Horns fighters grew into something specific and let it show at the top.
Found. Not forged. The Large Branch fighters don't wait for the right weapon — they use what's available and are surprised when this needs explanation.
