Diary
Gloomy Masumi once wielded a blade with the quiet certainty of a man who had made peace with death, but these days the only thing he wields with any certainty is a mirror, and the mirror is not kind. It happened at his mum's house, over tea gone cold and a bag of something greener than tea, when he confessed every secret he had ever buried in the name of samurai honor, and his hair, apparently unable to bear the weight of that much honesty, simply left him mid-sentence, strand by strand, like rats off a sinking ship. His mother did not comfort him. She topped up his cup and said, with the same flat clarity he inherited, that some things are rugged the moment you speak them aloud. He tried, briefly, to reclaim discipline, meditating cross-legged on her tatami mat for a full four minutes before reaching for the bag again, because clarity is a curse and weed is a mercy. Now he retreats to the jungle, bald and unbothered, having accepted that the floor for his dignity was set long ago, and it is very, very low.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Lord's garment worn into battle. The Daimyo Warrior Kimono fighters have authority they didn't ask for and intention they haven't announced.
'Masumi' means true clarity — and that's exactly his problem. He sees what's actually there, not the comfortable version, which made him priceless in war and unbearable at a party.
Still functional. Functionally broken. The Broken Glasses fighters see a cracked version of reality and have found it more honest than the uncracked one.
Broad shade, broad vision. The Wide Kasa Fisherman fighters cover more ground with their hat than most cover with their plans.
Found. Not forged. The Large Branch fighters don't wait for the right weapon — they use what's available and are surprised when this needs explanation.
