Masumi stood atop Dojo Towers across from Oleg and felt the old katana-discipline flicker once, like a candle that had already decided to give up before the wind even arrived. He had promised himself, the way he promises himself every morning, that today he would meditate before the fight instead of aping into a bag of gas-station weed and calling it centering himself. He did not meditate. He stared into Oleg's flat, unimpressed eyes and understood, with the calm of a man reading his own obituary, that his mojo had quietly rugged him sometime around sunrise and was probably already floor-bidding on someone else's spirit. Later, sitting in the wreckage of that stare-down, he did the thing he does best, which is imagine the version of himself who trained instead of vibed, who breathed instead of coped, who might have actually won something once. That Masumi does not exist, has never existed, and yet Masumi mourns him nightly with the specific, bleak devotion of a monk grieving a god he invented just so he could feel small in front of it.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.

'Masumi' means true clarity — and that's exactly his problem. He sees what's actually there, not the comfortable version, which made him priceless in war and unbearable at a party.
Still wearing them. The Bloodied Glasses fighters need nothing to be clean to keep seeing clearly.
Organization meets chaos. The Yakuza Hooligan fighters have discipline from one tradition and abandon from another, and they've combined them into something entirely their own.
