Diary
Gloomy Masumi has accepted, with the flat calm of a man reading his own obituary, that the rash appeared for a reason and the reason was probably karmic. It happened in Kyoto, midnight, mid-argument with some sword-obsessed traditionalist who kept calling him undisciplined, and somewhere between insult four and insult nine the itching started and never really stopped. He noticed, with the bleak clarity that has replaced whatever samurai serenity he once had, that the other man's voice had changed register, gone breathy, delighted even, as if conflict and skin conditions were a kink he'd been saving up for a special occasion. Masumi tried to summon the old discipline, the calm-breathing, sword-sheathing composure of his training days, and instead just scratched his forearm and stared into the middle distance like a man doing long division on his own decline. He still meditates every morning, technically, mostly on the fact that somewhere out there a man got turned on by watching him suffer, and that this, more than the rash, is the wound that never heals.
Theology made weapon-adjacent. The Golden Jesuit Crosses fighters have a philosophy and the crosses are its badge — precise, absolute, delivered with complete conviction.
Military patience. The Olive Green fighters do not announce themselves. They wait. Then they move.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Armor assembled from tradition. The Tatami Tosei Gusoku fighters are protected by history — centuries of craft wrapped around the present moment.
'Masumi' means true clarity — and that's exactly his problem. He sees what's actually there, not the comfortable version, which made him priceless in war and unbearable at a party.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Dark nature made structural. The Black Oni Horns fighters grew into something specific and let it show at the top.
Found. Not forged. The Large Branch fighters don't wait for the right weapon — they use what's available and are surprised when this needs explanation.
