Igor The Bear does not move fast for anyone, not for wars, not for widows, not even for the indignity of dirt and grabbing hands that caught him mid-tumble in some forgotten skirmish of flesh and mud. He took the groping the way he takes everything, like a mountain takes weather, slow blink, low grunt, filed away for later use. Now he sits on an upturned sake barrel outside the dojo, ink-stained paw dragging across parchment, composing what he calls the Degen Handbook, a sacred text of floors and rugs and the fine art of losing with dignity. Progress is glacial, one smudged rule an hour, because discipline was never his old samurai gift and it certainly is not his new one, but the bear keeps grinding, warm and stubborn under all that mass, impossible to start and even harder to stop once the ink starts flowing.
Not contacts. Not paint. Something older. The Shaman Eyes fighters see through the collection at a frequency others can't access, and they've been doing it since before the derug.
Military patience. The Olive Green fighters do not announce themselves. They wait. Then they move.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Minimum. Clean. The Fight Gi fighters believe that preparation is visible in the garment — this one says the fighter has done this before.
Built like a landslide — weight, physical and otherwise, the kind that can't be lifted, only rolled. In the wars you pointed him at a problem; now the stillness is the problem.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Color and structure combined. The Orange Bantu Knots fighters make their warmth architectural.
Organization-issue. The Yakuza Club fighters have backup in the weight of the weapon itself — it carries institutional authority.
