Diary
Igor The Bear once carried himself like a mountain that had simply decided to stand up, slow, immovable, a katana's worth of quiet dignity in every step, until the night BBQ Ben set a full rack of ribs down in front of him inside the Dojo and something ancient and disciplined in Igor just quit. Six plates later, sauce in his beard, honor somewhere under the table, he understood what the old masters meant about the ego being an illusion, mostly because his had just been eaten alive. He rugged his own self-esteem harder than any floor he'd ever seen collapse, and in the silence after the last bone was gnawed clean, Igor made a vow: no more gluttony, no more shame, only stillness, only breath, only the Buddha's calm. He sits now most mornings trying to meditate, jaw tight with intention, and most mornings BBQ Ben wanders by with a fresh tray, and Igor, slow as a landslide but twice as certain, always finds his way back to the table. Discipline, he tells himself between bites, is a mountain you climb daily, and daily the mountain hands him another rib.'
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Military patience. The Olive Green fighters do not announce themselves. They wait. Then they move.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Memento mori made fashionable. The Skull Kimono fighters remember what's at stake and wear the reminder so they never forget.
Built like a landslide — weight, physical and otherwise, the kind that can't be lifted, only rolled. In the wars you pointed him at a problem; now the stillness is the problem.
Carried more than worn. The Pocket Glasses fighters have perfect vision when they choose to apply it — the rest of the time, they let instinct run.
Nothing hidden. No armor above the neck. The Bald fighters face everything without cover and consider this the only honest approach.
Made for documentation, used for combat. The Paintbrush fighters record and act simultaneously — every fight is also a portrait.
