They still call him Igor The Veteran, though nobody at the dojo remembers what war earned it, and he has never once explained. It happened at the fish market, off the back of a joke he made about Itsuki's grip, some crack about small hands and smaller ambitions, and the mackerel knife did not care whose sensei he used to be. One nipple, gone, clean as a rugged floor price, and Igor did not scream so much as exhale, long and slow, like a man finally putting down a debt he'd carried since Sekigahara. He sat afterward on an overturned crate, ice on his chest, a joint going unlit between two fingers because even now some old discipline in him says wait, finish healing first, and some newer degen in him says light it anyway. He does not talk about the future often, but that night he did, just once, quiet enough the whole market leaned in to hear:
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
The hour when most give up. The Blue Evening fighters are still at their desk, still watching the chart, still holding.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Named for something specific. The Cet Kimono fighters know what they're wearing and why — the rest is for others to figure out.
The other Igor — the lean one, who earned the word Veteran inside the dojo rather than bringing it with him. He's never explained what it refers to, and nobody's asked twice.
Paper screen optics. The Shoji Glasses fighters see the world through traditional frames — and find that the tradition holds.
Named for an incident. The Sushi Fight fighters have a story about how they got this hairstyle. They don't tell the story. The hair does.
Found. Not forged. The Large Branch fighters don't wait for the right weapon — they use what's available and are surprised when this needs explanation.
