Junichiro once measured his men in inches and breaths, correcting their stances before the shoji doors with a voice sharp enough to cut silk, and for a time the clan called it discipline and rewarded him with favor for it. He told himself it was love, the way a first son loves by demanding more, but the men remembered only the sting and the doors that rattled with every blow. Now the wars are over and his dojo is a folding chair by a poker table, his katana traded for a lighter he can never find, yet he still grades everything: the weed he rolls too tight, the bets he sizes wrong, the floor price he insists will hold out of sheer stubborn pride. Every morning he vows to wake before dawn, meditate, rebuild the discipline he shattered against those doors, and every morning he wakes at noon smelling like spilled sake, cursing himself in the exact clipped tone he once used on lesser men. He is determined to earn back his reputation, ledger by ledger, rep by rep, even if the only man he has ever truly failed to measure up to is the one still standing in his own mirror.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Neither dark nor white. The Light Grey background belongs to fighters who operate in the space between certainties and have made it comfortable there.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Wore everything out. The Dirty Peasant Rags fighters have been in the Dojo so long that newness has become impossible — everything they own carries the evidence.
'Junichiro' — pure first son, the standard the others are measured against, usually by Junichiro himself. Flawless form, cleanest blade, a line that held because he'd sooner die than break it.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
The warrior and the wanderer. Worn by those who are between destinations but never between fights.
