Junichiro once measured every strike of the blade to the width of a rice grain, the eldest son whose ledger of discipline left no room for error, yet even he could not calculate the exchange rate of desperation in the red light district when the Dojo's coffers ran dry. He went looking for coin like a man diversifying a portfolio, only to wake up rugged by his own hand, a dragon on his ribs that looked more like a confused koi and a kanji on his forearm that, translated honestly, just says "discount." He inspects the ink now the way he once inspected a student's footwork, lips pressed thin, silently grading himself an unforgivable F while insisting aloud that it's "not that bad, actually." The elders did not share his generous self assessment and showed him the gate, his family name dragging behind him like a floor price nobody wants to buy. Still he holds his spine straight when he walks, because a disciplined man, even a disgraced one covered in regrettable tattoos, should at least have excellent posture about it.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
The hour when most give up. The Blue Evening fighters are still at their desk, still watching the chart, still holding.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
No fixed allegiance. The Mercenary fighters fight for whoever offers the right terms and have never lost a battle when those terms were met.
'Junichiro' — pure first son, the standard the others are measured against, usually by Junichiro himself. Flawless form, cleanest blade, a line that held because he'd sooner die than break it.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
The tiger, bound. The Tiger Headband Ruffian fighters contain something predatory with a strip of cloth and consider this sufficient.
The poisonous pufferfish as a weapon. The Frightened Fugu fighters chose something lethal that looks absurd — and find that this is the most accurate description of themselves.
