Junichiro measured everything: the angle of his blade, the posture of his ancestors' portraits, the precise disappointment in his own reflection each morning. In the snow outside a dice den he had no business entering, he wagered the last of the family fortune on a game rigged by fate and a very indignant monkey, and when the creature snatched his coin purse and bolted, honor demanded he draw steel rather than simply admit defeat like a reasonable degen. The monkey did not survive the encounter, the fortune did not survive the night, and Junichiro's sense of dignity did not survive the walk home, though he insists the form of his strike was flawless. Now he keeps a ledger of self-improvement, three columns wide, tracking discipline, temperance, and dignity, and fails all three by breakfast, usually before he's finished lecturing a bowl of miso soup on the importance of restraint. Still he sharpens his blade each dusk, certain that this time, this very time, he will become the son his father actually deserved instead of the one currently owed money by a dead monkey's ghost.
Simple. Carved. Someone made this by hand. The Wooden Loop fighters wear something made, not bought, and consider that a statement worth making.
Neither dark nor white. The Light Grey background belongs to fighters who operate in the space between certainties and have made it comfortable there.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Explicit in every sense. The Fuck You Kimono fighters made a communication choice and wore it. No ambiguity. No apology.
'Junichiro' — pure first son, the standard the others are measured against, usually by Junichiro himself. Flawless form, cleanest blade, a line that held because he'd sooner die than break it.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
The farmer's crown. The Rice Hat fighters carry tradition on their head without ceremony — it's just what you wear when you have work to do.
Fermented projectile. The Beer Splash fighters found the most abundant thing in the Dojo and weaponized it.
