Raikou didn't mean to get enlightened, man, it just kind of aped into him while he was soaking at the onsen, floor price of his patience already at zero before Junichiro even threw the first strike. Steam everywhere, some old ronin yelling about honor, and Raikou just breathing slow like the universe was one long bong rip, until suddenly his hands moved faster than his brain could gatekeep them and Junichiro was airborne into the sulfur water. In that blinked-out moment between throw and splash, Raikou saw it all, the wars, the vice, the nine hundred missed sunrise drills, and he felt something click like a good strain finally kicking in, some kind of degenerate satori. Now he says he's writing a book about it,
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Neither dark nor white. The Light Grey background belongs to fighters who operate in the space between certainties and have made it comfortable there.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Kept from the harvest. The Dried Straw fighters dress in what's left after everything useful has been taken — and have discovered this is plenty.
'Raikou' — lightning light. He moved slow and easy right up until the instant he didn't, and then it was over. These days he's mostly slow, and swears the smoke helps him think.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Wild, electrified. The Zapachi fighters' hair moves independently and the fighter has accepted that this is appropriate.
Games within games. The Chō-Han Gambling Dice fighters turned the casino into the armory and find this philosophically consistent.
