Diary
Raikou was mid-stance, katana loose in his grip like a joint he forgot he was holding, when Azuma came in hot through the neon fog of the red light district, all elbows and bad intentions. Somewhere between the third clash and the fourth missed strike, a little pouch of coins spilled out of Azuma's sleeve and skittered across the wet stone, glinting like tiny floors nobody had checked in weeks. Raikou just stood there, blade dropped to his side, staring at the coins with the slow blooming calm of a man who just realized the vending machine gave him two bags of chips for one dollar. "Bro," he said, not even winded, "you're not a warrior anymore, you're a whole liquidity event." He picked up exactly one coin, left the rest scattered like fallen cherry blossoms, and told himself, again, that today was the day he'd start meditating before noon instead of after his third bowl, a promise he has broken as reliably as Azuma rugs his own portfolio.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
The hour when most give up. The Blue Evening fighters are still at their desk, still watching the chart, still holding.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Named for what it abandoned. The No Honor Kimono fighters gave up on the codes others follow and found that this freed them completely.
'Raikou' — lightning light. He moved slow and easy right up until the instant he didn't, and then it was over. These days he's mostly slow, and swears the smoke helps him think.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Ceremony interrupted. The Disheveled Geisha fighters started something formal and ended something entirely different.
Used and not cleaned. The Bloody Nunchucks fighters are efficient — cleaning was someone else's job and they had the next fight to prepare for.
