Diary
Raikou tells it slow, like he's unspooling a scroll only he can read, about the humid night in Okinawa when a stranger's hands got too friendly and, in the tussle, his topknot came clean off like a rug getting pulled. He says the universe was testing his non-attachment, but honestly he just stood there bald and blinking under the neon while the guy ran off laughing into an izakaya. Now he keeps a little pouch of weed 'for perspective,' rolls a joint shaped suspiciously like a topknot, and calls it a tribute to the hair that once made him look like a disciplined warrior instead of a guy who lost a fight to gravity and bad vibes. He swears he's over it, breathes deep, says something about karma being non-refundable, then flinches every time someone reaches toward his shoulder. Every dojo session he tries to meditate on letting go, but five minutes in he's re-telling the Okinawa story to anyone nearby, proving that some scars just get a better paint job, not a cure.”
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
No clothing needed. The Shirtless Runt fighters removed every layer between themselves and the fight. Maximum exposure. Maximum honesty.
'Raikou' — lightning light. He moved slow and easy right up until the instant he didn't, and then it was over. These days he's mostly slow, and swears the smoke helps him think.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Insect mastery. The Kung Fu Beetle fighters move in patterns that look inefficient until they aren't. The beetle is not decorative.
Used and not cleaned. The Bloody Nunchucks fighters are efficient — cleaning was someone else's job and they had the next fight to prepare for.
