Raikou remembers being a peaceful man, a man who could sit with a single thought for a whole afternoon like it was a bowl that never needed repacking. Then the scumbags found the dojo roof, and peace got rugged harder than a low-cap token at 3am. Every morning he still climbs up there to meditate, cross-legged between empty rolling papers and someone's abandoned sake cup, promising himself today is the day he holds stillness like a diamond-handed whale. And every morning it lasts about four minutes before the lightning finds him anyway, some old samurai reflex snapping his hand to his blade before his brain even votes on the proposal. He exhales smoke, looks at the shrine bell someone's tied a vape to, and thinks, deep breath, past is prologue, the discipline's still in there somewhere, floor's just really far down today.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Neither dark nor white. The Light Grey background belongs to fighters who operate in the space between certainties and have made it comfortable there.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Blessed by the Dojo's own rites. The Ordained Dejen fighters carry something that can't be revoked — the Dojo recognized them and that recognition is permanent.
'Raikou' — lightning light. He moved slow and easy right up until the instant he didn't, and then it was over. These days he's mostly slow, and swears the smoke helps him think.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Used and not cleaned. The Bloody Nunchucks fighters are efficient — cleaning was someone else's job and they had the next fight to prepare for.
