Raikou was three bowls deep and moving like fog through the izakaya, sliding wasabi into his master's sake with the patience of a man who believes karma is just a slow rug pull, when some drunk salaryman's hand found a place on his person that no honorable scroll had ever consented to. For a full breath Raikou did not move, eyes half shut, because true masters know stillness is ninety percent of the technique and the other ten percent is lightning you didn't see coming. Then the lightning came, fast and clean, and the salaryman met the floor of the izakaya the way a bad JPEG meets zero liquidity. Raikou stood over him, exhaled a ring of smoke shaped vaguely like a dojo, and decided right there, deadpan and floating, that his true calling was teaching self defense to the people, mostly so nobody else gets grabbed mid sabotage like some discounted mint. He still hasn't scheduled a single class, hasn't rolled out of bed before noon in weeks, and honestly the discipline of
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Bright but not loud. The Teal Daytime fighters are the ones you underestimate because they don't announce their arrival.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Blessed by the Dojo's own rites. The Ordained Dejen fighters carry something that can't be revoked — the Dojo recognized them and that recognition is permanent.
'Raikou' — lightning light. He moved slow and easy right up until the instant he didn't, and then it was over. These days he's mostly slow, and swears the smoke helps him think.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
The tiger, bound. The Tiger Headband Ruffian fighters contain something predatory with a strip of cloth and consider this sufficient.
The other fish weapon. The Dead Fish fighters use something that smells like loss as a weapon — opponents are too confused to defend properly.
