Raikou stood before the shoji doors one lazy afternoon, iron in hand, pressing his old kimono flat like he was smoothing out the wrinkles of every bad decision since the wars ended. Somewhere between the steam and the incense smoke he had a vision, slow as molasses, that honor was the next big narrative and he wanted to ape in early before the floor on discipline pumped. He nodded to himself, deadpan serious, decided right then to become an honorable man again, a real bushido maxi, no cap. Problem is he still hasn't told his family, mostly because he forgot the second the joint touched his lips and the vision dissolved into a nap under the plum tree. His blade stays sharp though, and when it finally moves it moves like lightning, proof that somewhere under all that haze the old discipline is still rugged in there, just really, really chill about showing up.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
The hour when most give up. The Blue Evening fighters are still at their desk, still watching the chart, still holding.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Soft exterior. The Puppy Kimono fighters discovered that disarming presentation is its own strategy — you stop seeing the threat until it's too late.
'Raikou' — lightning light. He moved slow and easy right up until the instant he didn't, and then it was over. These days he's mostly slow, and swears the smoke helps him think.
