Serious Oleg does not smile when he tells it, because Serious Oleg has never smiled at anything, and he does not smile now when he recounts the day at the Edo palace when he consumed forty-one fish cakes in a silence so total that the assembled court mistook it for meditation and declared him a legend before he had even swallowed the last bite. He accepted the title the way he accepts everything, with a slow grave nod, as though fish cakes were simply another blade to be mastered, another discipline to be perfected in the name of the old bushido he still quietly, hopelessly worships. He has since retired from that chapter of his life, he says, the way a man retires from war, folding the fish-cake robes and setting them beside the sheathed katana he no longer draws, and yet the dojo has watched him
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Neither dark nor white. The Light Grey background belongs to fighters who operate in the space between certainties and have made it comfortable there.

Of all the Olegs, the one who never got the memo any of it was supposed to be funny. He made war a vocation — grave, total, and frightening for exactly that reason.

Organization meets chaos. The Yakuza Hooligan fighters have discipline from one tradition and abandon from another, and they've combined them into something entirely their own.
