Diary
Oleg entered the rice paddies of his youth seeking only stillness, the old samurai discipline of breath and blade distilled into mud and water, and there, ankle deep in silence, his mind emptied so completely that something else rushed in to fill it. He does not call what happened enlightenment. He calls it, with the same flat gravity he uses for everything, "the rugging of the self," and insists the paddies handed him a joint, a losing hand of cards, and a debt he still has not named. Now he seeks a quieter life the way a man seeks a lost sword, methodically, humorlessly, meditating each dawn for exactly seven minutes before someone at the Dojo lights something that ruins the count. He will tell you, without a flicker of irony, that discipline is close, that peace is close, that tomorrow the rice paddies will give him back what they took, and every fighter within earshot will nod and say nothing, because nobody has the heart to tell Serious Oleg that tomorrow never comes for men like him.
Without the gold. The Jesuit Crosses fighters have the same conviction but carry it lighter — the weight is in the belief, not the metal.
Unclear until it clears. The Grey Mist backgrounds belong to fighters who operate where others can't see, and use that fog as their advantage.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The dragon lives on the body now. The Dragon Head Tattoo fighters carry their ambition on the surface — it's not hidden, and it's not a metaphor.
Of all the Olegs, the one who never got the memo any of it was supposed to be funny. He made war a vocation — grave, total, and frightening for exactly that reason.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Named for the legendary swordsman. The Flowing Battousai fighters carry the name of the fastest draw in the collection's lore — and the hair confirms they take this seriously.
Patience as weapon. The Noose fighters don't rush — they set the conditions and wait for the opponent to walk into them.
