Botan tells it flat, no flinch, like reading a menu: some stranger's hand found him at the Nishiki market stalls and something in his chest just switched off forever, fear included, and he walked out a warrior who never once looked back to check if the world was scary. He built a whole self out of that vow, better man, steady blade, and for a while the discipline held like a fortress wall. Then the wars ended and the fortress got rugged from the inside, sold off plank by plank for weed, sake, and degen leverage plays he swears are 'basically meditation, just with candlesticks.' He still says the unsayable at the worst possible moments, tells a monk his portfolio is more haunted than his childhood, tells the dojo his liver has fought more battles than his sword arm, all delivered with the same gallows calm he used on that stranger's hand decades ago. Somewhere under the chaos the vow still breathes, quiet and singed at the edges, waiting for a version of Botan disciplined enough to actually keep it.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Hidden in plain sight. The Night Forest fighters do most of their work in the dark — not secretively, but quietly. They don't need an audience.
