Azuma never rose with the sun like the old masters preached; he arrived after, the way poison arrives after the toast, patient and inevitable. Under the paper lanterns of the Darkness Festival he sat cross-legged beside Raiku, passing a joint thick enough to embarrass an ancestor, and somewhere between the second hit and the third he asked aloud whether a man who traded his blade for a bong still deserved the word honor. Raiku only laughed smoke rings at him, which Azuma found both insulting and, annoyingly, correct. He tells himself he is chasing a quieter life now, some low mountain hut, no festivals, no crowds screaming his name between rounds, just tea and discipline and the sound of his own breathing. But the incense that night smelled too much like victory bought cheap, and Azuma, ever the slow reaction, knew the quiet he wanted was still years and several bad decisions away.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Between midday and dusk. The Orange Afternoon fighters are in the middle of something — not finished, not starting, exactly where they need to be.

Named for the legendary swordsman. The Flowing Battousai fighters carry the name of the fastest draw in the collection's lore — and the hair confirms they take this seriously.
