Yuji was too young when the wars sputtered out, robbed of the glory his blade was forged to chase, so now he prowls the alleys around the Dojo at sleepless hours hunting coin like it might bring the battle back. It was there he befriended a pack of degens who taught him to ape into things a disciplined boy never should, and he took to it with the recklessness of someone convinced the world still owed him a fight. He tells himself every dawn that he'll walk the honest path again, then rugs his own resolve by noon chasing the next promised jackpot. The worst part, the part that gnaws at him when the sake runs dry, is that he still hasn't told his family, still lets them believe the boy they raised is out there earning honor instead of losing his floor to strangers. Somewhere behind the swagger sits a kid who just wanted to matter, still waiting for a war that already left without him.
