Young Yuji was born a beat too late for the war that made men legends, so he went looking for glory in the neon wreckage of the Nagasaki Lantern Festival instead, sleepless, buzzing, aped into the crowd like it owed him something. Somewhere between the fifth cup of sake and a dare he can barely remember, his hand found Haruto's shoulder in a way that got him fired on the spot, the lanterns swaying overhead like they were laughing at him too. He tells himself it was fate, not fumble, and now kneels before a little Buddha statue every morning, incense smoke curling like the ghost of the discipline his old sword-hand used to have. The vow lasts about as long as his patience for silence, which is to say not long, because by noon he's already checking his phone for festival photos and whispering about redemption arcs to a god who probably just wants him to sit still. Still, he lights the incense again the next day, half samurai, half degenerate, fully convinced this time the calm will actually stick.”

Bright but not loud. The Teal Daytime fighters are the ones you underestimate because they don't announce their arrival.
