He returned to the Dojo lighter than he left it, and the old masters, who had watched him drift from disciplined swordsman to a man who annotated his own bad decisions, nodded with something close to respect. He has tried to recapture that stillness every day since, usually by journaling about it instead of doing it again, which he privately records as the funniest failure in the whole manuscript.
